The visiting team was given orientation about  BROSLIH Shelter Management and the relationship between community groups and Government Hospitals.

Rev. Ponsawan, the Director of GHFexplained the history of GHF and her work for the community of  BROSLIH who live in  the  shelter. While  recollecting her experiences as a Christian worker, Rev. Ponsawan shared with the Indonesian medical team her testimony  and said that “every day is a miracle because many people including Buddhists monks, church organizations, schools, Rotary Club, Lions Club, visit the project and  donate food, clothes, and take care of the  basic needs of the BROLISH.”

According to Ponsovan, “all staff at GHF  work as volunteers and they have no regular salary but they live in the shelter and support each other together with the BROLISH.” The annual fundraising through music concerts  help them to raise funds for medicines including ARV treatment.

The government support the volunteers to attend short term  training  courses in nursing that enables them to enhance skills and capacity in taking cre of BROLISH.

Dr. Elly Wijaya Nursyam, the coordinator of the visiting Indonesian medical team said that this opportunity to learn from Glory Hut Foundation’s HIV AIDS project and management of shelter system  will help his team to  initiate and plan similar programs and activities in his home country. All  doctors who are part of the team, as heads of Health Departmentsin different districts in Indonesia, will also initiate  developing policies regarding BROSLIH shelter homes at District level, based on the experiences they learnt during the visit to GHF.  The medical team also made financial contributions  to Global Hut Foundation to continue their work among the BROLISH.
