CCA to hold an online Consultation on vaccine equity amidst COVID-19 surge in Asia

A virtual Consultation on ‘Towards Vaccine Equity amidst COVID-19 Surge in Asia’ will be organised by the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA), which will be held on Tuesday 20 July 2021 from 12:00 to 16:30 (12 PM to 4:30 PM) Bangkok (Thailand) time.

Vaccine equity continues to be a major obstacle for Asian countries, several of which are grappling with highly infectious and virulent strains of COVID-19.

The online seminar will be an opportunity to hear various perspectives and opinions by internationally renowned medical, legal, and public health experts, as well as representatives from the UN and leaders of faith-based organisations on challenges in increasing access to vaccines and equitable distribution among all sectors of people.

The speakers of the Consultation will be:

  • Dr Benyamin Sihombing, World Health Organisation (WHO);
  • Dr Milton B. Amayun, Public health specialist (Philippines);
  • Dr Alex Tang (Monash University, Malaysia);
  • Dr Angelique Walker-Smith (Bread for the World USA);
  • Advocate Abraham C. Mathews (Supreme Court of India);
  • Elly D. Pitoy-de Bell ( Protestant Church in Western Indonesia); and
  • Dr Priya John (Christian Medical Association of India).

The CCA General Secretary, Dr Mathews George Chunakara, will be the moderator.
