The Christian Conference of Asia will be organizing a month-long intensive ecumenical formation training – an Asian Ecumenical Institute (AEI), which will be held at the Payap University, Chiang Mai from 24 October to 23 November 2016.
The AEI – 2016, focusing on the theme ‘Shaping a New Paradigm for Wider Ecumenism in Asia’, will aim at training a new generation of young ecumenical leaders in Asia and equipping them to be committed to ecumenism and contributing to the Asian and global ecumenical movement in the coming decades.
Through the Asian Ecumenical Institute, CCA will assist the Asian churches to train their prospective church and ecumenical leaders with a wider ecumenical vision as well as theological and socio-political perspectives to understand the ethos and values of ecumenism in Asia’s geopolitical and interfaith contexts.
The course is designed to provide in-depth analyses and insights on pertinent issues and themes relevant to ecumenical contexts including biblical, theological, geopolitical, and interfaith perspectives. The course content will help participants to learn about a wider ecumenical vision based on biblical and theological undergirding in Asian contexts. It will help prospective and budding leaders in churches to develop effective ecumenical leadership in domestic as well as international levels.
Participants will be selected from among the applicants recommended by heads of churches or ecumenical bodies. Selection will be based on competence, gender and confessional balances, national and sub-regional representations, and ability to participate and contribute to the mutual learning process while engaged in capacity enhancement.
Completed applications for the AEI -2016 should be sent to CCA no later than 13 September 2016.
