2002 Common Prayer for Peace and Reunification
of the
Korean Peninsula

God, the Creator and Lord of our history,
Have mercy on us.
We come together to pray for the peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula,
The only divided nation in the world.

God of Peace and Unity,
Forgive us
    for having been afraid of any change in the long period of national separation,
    for having been indifferent to our neighbors and our nation,
    ignoring one another's pain and agony.

God who took up the cross of our burden of division,
Let us draw close to You, who are always working for the peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula;
    Let us follow You with our own cross;
    Lead us to live in sincere Christian faith,
    serving and sharing our love and care.

God our Hope,
    Let your church face our sorrowful reality of division.
    Let your church overcome our nation's agony.
    Let your church guard our nation
    from any outside challenges breaking the peace.
    Let us be one.
    Heal our hearts suffering the pain of conflict and discrimination.
    May we sisters and brothers in Christ, hand-in-hand, devote our whole lives
        to the reunification of the Korean peninsula,
        to peace in Asia,
        to peace in all the World.

Merciful God, full of overflowing love for the Korean nation,
    Let your church lead in seeking reconciliation among our people.
    Let your church give its whole heart to cooperation and interchange
    between South and North, North and South;
    let it be the seed of peace and reunification.
    Let your church be the cornerstone of faith and live which brings
        the joy of reunification,
        the hope of peace and reconciliation.
